From the /Build/ Conference in Anaheim, California.

At 20 minutes in, Jensen Harris (excellent speaker, btw) essentially gives us a 1-2-3 of How to Make an App Metro.

http://channel9.msdn.com/events/build/build2011/bps-1004

Windows 8 Tablet Public Beta / Developer Preview

Surprise, it’s not all horrible!

http://www.theverge.com/2011/09/13/windows-8-tablet-photos-video-preview/

Windows is doing great things, and it doesn’t matter:

This highlights my continuing gripe against brands that purposely fragment themselves into sub-brands. It does have some advantages, but as part of ongoing products I usually receive some sort of conflicting directive. Brand owners usually ask to abandon the parent identity, but business owners ask for consistent branding across all sub-brands. Microsoft is a perfect example of that. Nobody (literally, nobody) benefits from Xbox, Windows, Windows Phone and Office all having their own identities. It’s a giant waste of money for Microsoft, and consumers aren’t cognizant of (or informed by) different brand identities.

http://themacadvocate.com/2011/09/13/windows-8-the-meh-starts-now/

Mozilla Team begins woking on a Metro-styled version of their browser:

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/mozilla-begins-development-of-firefox-for-metro/4623

Random concept of what a Windows8 Desktop might look like.

If it at all approaches this level of elegance and cleanliness, that would rule:

http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/24/2822891/windows-desktop-ui-concept

And now for some hate:

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Microsoft-Windows-8-Consumer-Preview-Mike-Bibik-Metro-Bar,15007.html
